The Sparvar stall on the Waterlooplein market was once the place to get your quality paint designed especially for writers – how times have changed. Does anyone use this stuff any more? In fact, does it even still exist? The bubblegum smell was guaranteed to give you a headache, it reacted with every other brand of paint and was next to useless in the cold weather …. not exactly a recipe for success these days!

aswell as stinking weird and being useless in the cold, it was god damn awful on steel from what i remember.
I never used the Tuff Colors stuff but had plenty of the earlier standard Sparvar. It was useless in the cold or wet and also crap on steel unless it was in the height of summer. It also used to react badly with hycote concentrate. I did love the smell though, mmm sweet gas. In fact compared to a lot of the paint we had in the UK in the 80’s and 90’s it was very good.
I wonder if you can you still get Glasurit or Rainbow in the Dam? I remember buying a load off Henx for very cheap in the early 90’s…
