Electro Talk – The Street Scene Magazine 1985

Way back in the mid 80’s it was a hard to get info on the latest electro & hip hop releases. Blues & Soul was probably the choice but then Morgan Khan played a blinder with the release of The Street Scene in November 1985. Sadly it only lasted for 25 issues, and every one was pure quality. Here is the very first Electro Talk page. I’ll scan them all up over the next few days and add them to flickr. More readable scan right here. Enjoy.

1991 BBC Radio 4 UK Hip Hop Documentary

Spent the day ripping my way through some old TDK’s and amongst the Westwood shows I found this documentary I taped off Radio 4 way back in 1991. It features interviews with MC Mell’O’, Monie Love & the journalist Malu Halasa. Enjoy.

The audio is hosted by Sound Lantern. It’s the first time I’ve used this service (it’s like a youtube for audio). If you have any problems with playback, please drop me a line.

UK Fresh ‘86′

Not much info about this event was available on the Internet for ages and then a couple of years ago some audio rips appeared on Soulseek. You can now download these from a few web sites (The Essential Elements seems to currently have a live link to 2 hours and 30 minutes of audio goodness). Return to Bunk Bed has some photos from the event which are well worth checking. I’ve had the programme sat of my shelf now for 20 or so years and tonight I gave it a …

London Pirate Radio Business

I always enjoyed some pirate radio business back in the 90’s. Looking back, I’m so glad I taped loads of it … if only I could find the time to rip them all to mp3. I’ve done a few and spread the goodness in the past over on discogs & b2vos. Here’s one that’s never seen the light of day before …
