When Angels Fell …

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

So this week I put up for sale a copy Angels by A-Tension (discogs). It’s the original Acadamey Street ACST001 pressing. Nice. The discogs market price history (sales data from the past year only) indicates that £21.91 is an everage price, but popsike tells a different story alltogether.

July 2005 - (EX) - £155
July 2005 - (MINT) - £137
October 2006 - (EX) - £72
October 2006 - (?) - £51
October 2006 - (?) - £62
November 2006 - (MINT) - £31
May 2007 - (EX) - £36
July 2007 - (?) - £41
Oct 2007 - (VG+) - £51
June 2008 - (VG) - £40

and then last night my VG+ copy sold for £21. In three years the price of this tune has dropped considerably. What could have caused this to happen? One of the reviews points out that,

This track does seem to be a track that people love to hate. The main reason I think that alot of people dont like this track is that they have herd it a million times in such a short amount of time. So the songs popularity may be its downfall.

It looks like that most of those that love it have spent their cash and bought their copies leaving those with indifference to snap it up at a much more wallet friendly price despite it still being a hard tune to track down!
